Very expected game in Bamberg where 6th ranked Telekom Baskets (9-6) were crushed by second ranked Brose Baskets (14-1) 84-64 on Saturday. Brose Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Telekom Baskets' players. The best player for the winners was French Fabien Causeur (195-87) who scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Josh Mayo (181-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) produced 23 points and his fellow American import swingman Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains second position with 14-1 record having just one point less than leader Ratiopharm. Loser Telekom Baskets keep the sixth place with six games lost. Brose Baskets will meet at home SC Rasta Vechta (#17) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Telekom Baskets will play against Bayern Muenchen (#3) and hope to secure a win.
