Ninth ranked Giessen 46ers (8-7) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 7th ranked EWE Baskets (8-7) 84-82 in the game for the seventh place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of EWE Baskets. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Justin Sears (203-94, college: Yale) notched 16 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Cameron Wells (186-88, college: Citadel) supported him with 15 points and 4 assists. Four Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Even 27 points, 9 assists and 5 steals by guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) did not help to save the game for EWE Baskets. Center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. EWE Baskets' coach Mladen Drijencic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Giessen 46ers moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated EWE Baskets. Giessen 46ers will play against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#14) in Frankfurt in the next round and are hoping to win another game. EWE Baskets will have a break next round.
