Regular Season Round 22: Mazeikiai - Suduva-Mantinga 76-78

Tenth-ranked Mazeikiai (8-14) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Suduva-Mantinga (18-4) on Saturday. The visitors from Marijampole managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mazeikiai. Mazeikiai trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-78 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Aurimas Kieza (199-82, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. Mantas Serksnas (202-96) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Arunas Mikalauskas (199-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Mazeikiai. Mazeikiai's coach Aloyzas Rudys rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Suduva-Mantinga have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-4 record. Mazeikiai at the other side keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Delikatesas. Suduva-Mantinga are looking forward to face Rasai (#4) in Raseiniai in the next round. Mazeikiai will play on the road against Silute (#7) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
