Regular Season Round 12: Maia Basket - Oliveirense 70-76

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Oliveirense (8-4) defeated on the road 11th ranked Maia Basket (2-10) 76-70. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maia Basket won third quarter 26-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for the former international forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Rui Coelho (191-89) contributed with 22 points for the winners. The former international center David Gomes (200-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Antonio Robinson (193-93, college: E.Carolina) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Maia Basket. Maia Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Oliveirense have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vitoria SC. Maia Basket lost sixth consecutive game. Maia Basket at the other side keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Oliveirense's next round opponent will be CAB Madeira (#7) in Funchal. Maia Basket will play on the road against Illiabum (#6) in Ilhavo and hope to win that game.
