Very predictable result in Izmir where second ranked Bornova (14-2) defeated 13th ranked Urla BLD (6-10) 69-65 on Sunday. They outrebounded Urla BLD 42-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. The former international guard Esra Sencebe (173-81) fired 16 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American center Chanita Jordan (196-87, college: Bowie St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Bornova players scored in double figures. Bornova's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and center Berrin Karabas (190-87) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Bornova have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Edremit. Urla BLD lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Edirne and Yalova Vip. Bornova will meet at home 55 Genclik (#19) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Urla BLD will play against Anadolu Univ. (#20) in Eskisehir and hope to secure a win.
