Regular Season Round 12: Gruenberg - Osnabruck SC 53-56

A very close game took place in Gruenberg between Osnabruck SC and Baskets Grunberg. Fourth ranked Osnabruck SC (9-3) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Baskets Grunberg (6-6). Osnabruck SC managed to escape with a 3-point win 56-53 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Baskets Grunberg. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-9. But Baskets Grunberg won second period 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Baskets Grunberg 46-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard N'Dea Bryant (183-94, college: N.Carolina) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Ramona Tews (172-92) supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Osnabruck SC's coach Mario Zurkowski used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 24 points and 5 rebounds by American swingman Sarah Olson (173-93, college: Monmouth) did not help to save the game for Baskets Grunberg. Canadian forward Vanessa Zailo (180-92, college: Lindenwood) added 9 points and 11 rebounds. Osnabruck SC maintains fourth position in North with 9-3 record. Loser Baskets Grunberg dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with B.Loewen. Osnabruck SC will meet at home Osnabruecker (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Baskets Grunberg will play against Braunschweig (#12) and hope to secure a win.
