Regular Season Round 9: Mersin BSB - Hatay 60-72

There was an upset when higher ranked Mersin BSB (5-5) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Hatay (3-6) 72-60 on Wednesday. Hatay outrebounded Mersin BSB 39-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian center Gintare Petronyte (196-89) who recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Nilay Kartaltepe (172-79) added 7 points, 9 assists and 4 steals respectively. Hatay moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Girne Univ. Loser Mersin BSB keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Hatay will face Osmaniye (#13) on the road in the next round.
