Regular Season Round 23: Silute - Mazeikiai 86-75

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Silute (12-10) defeated at home 11th ranked Mazeikiai (9-15) 86-75 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Silute. Mazeikiai was better in second period 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Silute forced 20 Mazeikiai turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Simas Raupys (195-94) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Rytis Biliartas (200-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and forward Arunas Mikalauskas (199-97, agency: BeoBasket) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. Silute moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zalgiris II. Loser Mazeikiai dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. Silute will face higher ranked Perlas-MRU (#5) in Vilnius in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mazeikiai will play at home against KTU (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
