Regular Season Round 21: Zaporizhya - Cherkasy 86-92

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Zaporozhye where 6th ranked Zaporizhya (9-10) was defeated by seventh ranked Cherkasy (9-9) 92-86 on Friday. The game without a history. Cherkasy led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Zaporizhya's 36. They outrebounded Zaporizhya 36-25 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Cherkasy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Stacy Davis (198-94, college: Pepperdine) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Moldovan Andrii Kalnichenko (201-86) chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was Maks Adam Konate (202-91, agency: Alti Sport) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Pavlo Burenko (184-90) scored 21 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cherkasy moved-up to sixth place. Zaporizhya lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Cherkasy will meet higher ranked Dnipro (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaporizhya will play against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) and hope to secure a win.
