We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked TED Ankara (8-9) lost to sixteenth ranked Istanbulgucu (5-12) in a road game 52-57 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was point guard Ilayda Tokmak (170-93) who scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Gizem Uca (170-94) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Nigerian-American power forward Ayesha Barkley (188-87, college: Stetson, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and center Derin Yaya (174-97) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Istanbulgucu maintains sixteenth place with 5-12 record. TED Ankara lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Istanbulgucu will face higher ranked Mersin Uni (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
