Regular Season Round 17: Izmit - Bodrum 68-72

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Izmit (13-4) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Bodrum (13-3) 72-68 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American guard Shay Selby (175-90, college: Duke) who scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Melek Bilge (193-89) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American center Whitney Jones (183-87, college: Arkansas, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Gulizar Sezer (-78) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Bodrum. They moved-up to fourth place. Izmit at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Bodrum will face league's leader Bornova at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Izmit will play against the league's second-placed Edremit (#2) in Balikesir and hope to win that game.
