An interesting game for Brose Baskets (15-1) which played road game in Bayreuth against one of their biggest challengers BBC Bayreuth (12-3). Second ranked Brose Baskets managed to get a 4-point victory 92-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BBC Bayreuth. Brose Baskets made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. BBC Bayreuth was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and French Fabien Causeur (195-87) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Brose Baskets' coach Andrea Trinchieri allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Joseph Lewis (188-92, college: Louisville) responded with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 15-1 record having just one point less than leader Ratiopharm. BBC Bayreuth at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with B.Muenchen. Brose Baskets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BBC Bayreuth will play at home against Telekom Baskets and hopes to get back on the winning track.
