Regular Season Round 24: Suduva-Mantinga - Rasai 83-57

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Marijampole. First ranked Suduva-Mantinga faced 4th ranked Rasai. Host Suduva-Mantinga (20-4) smashed guests from Raseiniai (16-8) 83-57. The game was mostly controlled by Suduva-Mantinga. Rasai managed to win second period 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Suduva-Mantinga dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Rasai's 26. Suduva-Mantinga forced 25 Rasai turnovers and outrebounded them 41-25 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international Aurimas Kieza (199-82, college: Hofstra) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Sarunas Beniusis (206-93) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Andrius Aleksandrovas (198-86) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively. Suduva-Mantinga have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-4 record. Rasai at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Suduva-Mantinga are looking forward to face KTU (#10) in Kaunas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rasai will play on the road against the league's second-placed Nafta-Uni. (#2) in Klaipeda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
