No shocking result in a game when second ranked Edremit (16-2) beat 5th ranked Izmit (13-5) in Balikesir 64-58 on Friday. Edremit dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Izmit's 24. They outrebounded Izmit 49-28 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international Saynur Tozlu (189-86) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 20 rebounds. Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA) contributed with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Polish forward Julia Demirer (187-81, college: Emmanuel, MA) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and the former international point guard Busra Akbas (174-95) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Izmit. Edremit have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bornova. Newly promoted Izmit keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Edremit will face league's leader Bornova on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Izmit will play against Ferko Ilgaz (#11) and hope to win that game.
