Very predictable result when ninth ranked Giessen 46ers (8-8) defeated on the road 17th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (1-15) 87-83 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American point guard Cameron Wells (186-88, college: Citadel) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 assists. British-Canadian forward Thomas Scrubb (198-91) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Filipino forward Christian Standhardinger (206-89, college: Hawaii) produced 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) added 21 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Giessen 46ers moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ludwigsburg and EWE Baskets. SC Rasta Vechta lost their tenth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth position with 15 games lost. Giessen 46ers will meet Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#10) in the next round. SC Rasta Vechta will play against ALBA Berlin (#5) and hope to win that game.
