Regular Season Round 17: Lietuvos rytas - Neptunas 78-75

Fifth-ranked Neptunas (8-9) gave a tough game to third ranked Lietuvos rytas (12-5) in Vilnius on Friday. Lietuvos rytas managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected easier game. Neptunas was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 28-19 charge of Lietuvos rytas, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. Four Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas' coach Tomas Pacesas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import point guard Larry Drew II (188-90, college: UCLA) scored 7 points and 11 assists. Lietuvos rytas maintains third place with 12-5 record having four points less than leader Zalgiris. Neptunas lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with P.Zvaigzdes. Lietuvos rytas are looking forward to face Nevezis (#8) in Kedainiai in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Neptunas will play on the road against Vytautas in Prienai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
