Regular Season Round 11: Fenerbahce - Galatasaray 77-55

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#1) and Galatasaray (#2). Fenerbahce (10-1) crushed visiting Galatasaray (8-3) by 22 points 77-55. Fenerbahce had a 35-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Fenerbahce especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. International point guard Birsel Vardarli (175-84) accounted for 5 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side. Fenerbahce's coach Georgios Dikeoulakos felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Yvonne Anderson (170-90, college: Texas, agency: Two Points) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Isil Alben (170-86, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Galatasaray in the defeat. Fenerbahce have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-1 record. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Fenerbahce will play against Girne Univ. (#12) in Lefkosa in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Galatasaray will play at home against Hatay (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
