The biggest surprise took place in Benfica where host Benfica (10-3) beat league's leader FC Porto Ferpinta (10-3) 69-56 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of FC Porto Ferpinta. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. Benfica led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. International forward Joao Soares (202-90, agency: Interperformances) fired 12 points for the winners. American Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 10 points and 4 assists. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and Serbian power forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St., agency: 011 Sports) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Benfica moved-up to second place, which they share with FC Porto. FC Porto Ferpinta will play next round against Lusitania trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Benfica will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Ovarense on the road.
