Regular Season Round 17: Zalgiris - Nevezis 89-62

LKL top team - Zalgiris (16-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Nevezis (5-12) in Kaunas 89-62. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Zalgiris especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. International point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points and 7 assists. Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 5 points and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Nevezis. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixteenth consecutive win for Zalgiris. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. Nevezis at the other side keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Zalgiris' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Lietkabelis in Panevezys and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nevezis will play at home against Lietuvos rytas (#3) and hope to win that game.
