Regular Season Round 13: Sanjoanense - Vasco 58-55

A very close game took place in between Sanjoanense and Vasco. Seventh ranked Sanjoanense (5-8) got a very close home victory over much higher ranked Vasco (8-5). Sanjoanense managed to escape with a 3-point win 58-55 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vasco. Guard Silvio Rodrigues (184-92) stepped up and scored 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Simao Pinheiro (187-97) chipped in 9 points and 6 assists. At the losing side swingman Fabio Bem (188-85) responded with 11 points and naturalized Angolan forward Paulo Ferreira (187-80) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sanjoanense moved-up to fifth place in Group North, which they share with Ginasio. Loser Vasco dropped to the third position with five games lost. Sanjoanense will meet Sangalhos (#8) on the road in the next round. Vasco will play against Guifoes (#7) and hope to secure a win.
