Regular Season Round 15: Salzkotten - Bonn II 104-97

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Salzkotten (9-6) defeated at home 8th ranked Bonn II (7-8) 104-97 on Saturday. Salzkotten dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Bonn II's 36 and made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Salzkotten looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Bonn II was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Bryce Leavitt (193-94, college: Seattle Pacific) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Swingman Felix Wenningkamp (195-88) helped adding 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Yannik Kneesch (203-96) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Philipp Gruber (193-96) scored 21 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Bonn II's coach Thomas Adelt tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Salzkotten moved-up to fifth place in West, which they share with Dorsten. Loser Bonn II keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Salzkotten will face league's second-placed SG Schwelmer Baskets on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bonn II will play against Hertener Loewen (#12) and hope to win that game.
