Regular Season Round 17: Istanbulspor - Eskisehir Basket 86-88

Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Second ranked Eskisehir Basket (14-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 7th ranked Istanbulspor (11-6) 88-86 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a great shooting night for Eskisehir Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international center Cemal Nalga (213-87, agency: BeoBasket) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) accounted for 29 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Eskisehir Basket players scored in double figures. American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Walter Lemon Jr. (190-92, college: Bradley) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Istanbulspor in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Eskisehir Basket maintains second place with 14-2 record behind leader Sakarya BSB. Istanbulspor lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Samsun and Bursaspor. Eskisehir Basket will play against Bandirma Kir. (#11) in Balikesir in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbulspor will play at home against Yalova Bld (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
