No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked ALBA Berlin (12-5) defeated on the road 17th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (1-16) 80-69 on Saturday. ALBA Berlin made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 SC Rasta Vechta turnovers. Strangely SC Rasta Vechta outrebounded ALBA Berlin 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian swingman Dragan Milosavljevic (198-89) who scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. American Tony Gaffney (206-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Filipino forward Christian Standhardinger (206-89, college: Hawaii) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. ALBA Berlin have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 12-5 record. SC Rasta Vechta lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth place with 16 games lost. ALBA Berlin will have a break next round. SC Rasta Vechta will play on the road against Giessen 46ers (#9) and hope to win that game.
