Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Vilsbiburg (10-4) beat on the road 13th ranked Herzogenaurach (3-11) 86-80 on Saturday. Vilsbiburg made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Herzogenaurach was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American-Czech point guard John Boyer (185-88, college: Buffalo, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. American swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane) helped adding 15 points and 10 rebounds. Boyer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Vilsbiburg's coach Holger Prote used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was point guard Matthew Meredith (194-0) with 22 points and Austrian swingman Michael Kaiser (195-82) scored 18 points. Four Herzogenaurach players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Vilsbiburg. They moved-up to fourth place in South-East, which they share with TSV Troester. Herzogenaurach lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Vilsbiburg will face Jena II (#7) at home in the next round.
