An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Angra Heroismo. Second ranked Terceira faced 3rd placed Benfica B. Host Terceira (9-2) smashed guests from Lisboa (7-5) 72-52. Terceira made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Terceira outrebounded Benfica B 42-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Fernando Ferreira (198-94) chipped in 8 points and 12 rebounds. Slovenian guard Aljaz Slutej (188-96) produced 16 points and swingman Sergio Silva (193-96) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Terceira. They maintain second place in Group South with 9-2 record behind leader Barreirense. Loser Benfica B keeps the third position with five games lost. Terceira will face Angrabasket (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Benfica B's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Lisboa to the arena Academia.
