Regular Season Round 13: Fortuna - H-Sirenos 70-71

The most exciting game of round 13 in the LMKL took place in Klaipeda. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Fortuna (7-7) to fourth ranked Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (7-6) 71-70 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fortuna. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 18-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 21 Fortuna turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Akvile Baronenaite (185-93) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 assists. Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International center Justina Matuzonyte (198-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Andra Andra Gabalyte (179-80, college: Liberty) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fortuna. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Fortuna at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas are looking forward to face Siauliai-Univ. (#5) at home in the next round. Fortuna will have a break next round.
