We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked ALBA Berlin II (3-7) was crushed on the road by tenth ranked Westerstede (3-6) 90-62 on Sunday. Westerstede forced 22 ALBA Berlin II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by ALBA Berlin II's players. It was a great evening for swingman Lucien Schmikale (194-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Nigel Pruitt (201-94, college: Kennesaw St.) helped adding 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Pruitt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was power forward Filip Stanic (204-98) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Daniel Kirchner (174-97) scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Westerstede moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Hannover Korb. ALBA Berlin II lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Westerstede will face higher ranked Vechta-2 (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ALBA Berlin II will play against the league's leader Stade (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
