Top ranked Dragon Force (11-2) recorded its second loss in Porto on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Academico FC (8-4) 75-64. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Dragon Force. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group North. Academico FC made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 27 Dragon Force turnovers. Strangely Dragon Force outrebounded Academico FC 40-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. Forward Joao Ribeiro (190-93) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Diogo Oliveira (-96) chipped in 16 points. Four Academico FC players scored in double figures. Guard Pedro Figueiredo (188-94) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and forward Agenor Rolo (193-95) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Academico FC have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group North. Dragon Force at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Academico FC are looking forward to face Esgueira / Oli (#4) at home in the next round. Dragon Force will play against Ginasio in Figueira da Foz and is hoping to win this game.
