Regular Season Round 18: Bandirma Kir. - Eskisehir Basket 78-77

The most exciting game of round 18 in the TBL took place in Balikesir. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Eskisehir Basket (15-3) to tenth ranked Bandirma Kir. (8-10) 78-77 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Bandirma Kir. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Eskisehir Basket's 28. Bandirma Kir. forced 19 Eskisehir Basket turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Eskisehir Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Talat Alp Altunbey (204-94) who scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Ridvan Oncel (190-97) chipped in 16 points. Four Bandirma Kir. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) who recorded 19 points and 8 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) added 20 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bandirma Kir. maintains tenth position with 8-10 record, which they share with Akhisar Bld. Eskisehir Basket at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Bandirma Kir. is looking forward to face higher ranked Acibadem (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Eskisehir Basket will play at home against the league's leader Sakarya BSB where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
