Second Stage Round 1: Nafta-Uni. - Silute 84-72

The biggest surprise of round 1 in NKL took place in Klaipeda where host Nafta-Uni. (20-7) beat Silute (13-14) 84-72 on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Nafta-Uni.. Silute managed to win second period 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Silute to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Silute 47-29 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Nafta-Uni. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Mindaugas Stasys (179-86) fired 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Dziugas Slavinskas (203-98) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Nafta-Uni. players scored in double figures. American guard Ulysses Thomas (190-92, college: Kentucky St.) produced 21 points and Modestas Zaunieriunas (185-94) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Silute will play next round against strong Telsiai trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Nafta-Uni. will try to continue on its current victory against Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole.
