Regular Season Round 19: Neptunas - Lietkabelis 86-61

The game between second ranked Lietkabelis (14-5) and seventh ranked Neptunas (9-10) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Lietkabelis was crushed by Neptunas in Klaipeda 61-86. The game without a history. Neptunas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Neptunas outrebounded Lietkabelis 42-21 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Neptunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Jamaican-American forward Omari Johnson (206-89, college: Oregon St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Neptunas players scored in double figures. Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) answered with 11 points and the former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) added 12 points in the effort for Lietkabelis. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Neptunas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Juventus. Lietkabelis at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Lietuvos rytas. Neptunas is looking forward to face higher ranked Lietuvos rytas (#3) in Vilnius in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lietkabelis will play at home against Siauliai and is hoping to win this game.
