Regular Season Round 15: Rostock - Schalke 96-72

Date: January 15, 2017
There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Rostock (7-8) outscored at home 6th ranked Schalke (7-8) 96-72 on Sunday. Rostock dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Schalke's 44. Strangely Schalke outrebounded Rostock 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American point guard Jarvis Davis (183-91, college: Gardner-Webb) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: Savannah St.) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. Shuler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rostock players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Irish guard Patrick Carney (185-85, college: Chapman) with 20 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized American forward Dorian McDaniel (198-87, college: Prairie View A&M) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rostock have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place in North, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Schalke. Rostock will face Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
