Second Stage Round 3: Ezerunas-Karys - Mazeikiai 86-79

There was a minor upset in Moletai where Mazeikiai (10-18) was defeated by Ezerunas-Karys (7-22) 86-79 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-20. But Mazeikiai won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ezerunas-Karys shot 62.3 percent from the field. Ezerunas-Karys outrebounded Mazeikiai 33-18 including a 25-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Ezerunas-Karys looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (200-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Guard Dovydas Giedraitis (185-0) helped adding 16 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Rytis Biliartas (200-91) with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Aidas Einikis (195-96) scored 15 points. Five Ezerunas-Karys and four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. Ezerunas-Karys will face KTU (#12) in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
