Regular Season Round 17: Bayreuth II - Vilsbiburg 113-87

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Bayreuth 2 (2-14) outleveled at home 4th placed Vilsbiburg (11-5) 113-87 on Saturday. Bayreuth 2 forced 19 Vilsbiburg turnovers and had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Bayreuth 2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American point guard Montigo Alford (175, college: Boise St.) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Moritz Trieb (190-98) chipped in 25 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Michael Mayr (195-87) responded with 33 points (!!!) and American swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Bayreuth 2 and four Vilsbiburg players scored in double figures. Bayreuth 2 maintains fourteenth place in South-East with 2-14 record. Loser Vilsbiburg keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Bayreuth 2 will face higher ranked Ansbach (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vilsbiburg will play against Oberhaching and hope to win that game.
