Regular Season Round 15: H-Sirenos - Ukmerges 85-62

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Ukmerges (1-15) was crushed on the road by third ranked Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (9-7) 85-62. The game was mostly controlled by Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas. Ukmerges was better in fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Ukmerges' 36. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 32 Ukmerges turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Akvile Baronenaite (185-93) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Center Livija Sakeviciute (188-99) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas players scored in double figures. Monika Petrauskaite (182-92) came up with 20 points and forward Martyna Petrenaite (181-98) added 17 points respectively for Ukmerges in the defeat. Ukmerges' coach Gytautas Kievinas gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains third place with 9-7 record having three points less than leader Suduva. Newly promoted Ukmerges stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas will have a break next round. Ukmerges will play at home against the league's leader Suduva (#1) and hope to win that game.
