Regular Season Round 19: Chemnitz - Koeln Rh.Stars 75-67

Date: January 21, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Koeln Rh.Stars (9-10) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Chemnitz (13-5) 75-67 on Saturday. Chemnitz made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for power forward Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Virgil Matthews (190-83, college: Montana) helped adding 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side guard Hugh Robertson (195-89, college: S.Florida) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) scored 9 points and 8 assists. Koeln Rh.Stars' coach Arne Woltmann rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chemnitz maintains fourth place with 13-5 record. Loser Koeln Rh.Stars keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Chemnitz will meet Baunach (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Koeln Rh.Stars will play against Titans (#16) in Dresden and hope to secure a win.
