Regular Season Round 19: Pertevniyal - Istanbulspor 62-61

A very interesting game took place in Istanbul. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Istanbulspor (12-7) to twelfth ranked Pertevniyal (7-12) 62-61 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. 25 personal fouls committed by Istanbulspor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Sertay Gursu (194-87) fired 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) chipped in 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Ugur Can Aksoy (207-91) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Umutcan Ozyildirim (196-83) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pertevniyal maintains twelfth place with 7-12 record. Newly promoted Istanbulspor dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Pertevniyal's next round opponent will be Final Genclik (#15) in Bursa.
