An interesting game was played in Leverkusen where host SG BBZ Opladen (#8) won against 5th ranked Osnabruck SC 63-58 on Sunday evening. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. SG BBZ Opladen had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Mareike Nettersheim (186-83) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Julia Krause (195-85) chipped in 6 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. SG BBZ Opladen's coach Birgit Kunel used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Nigerian guard Promise Amukamara (173-93, college: Arizona St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Melina Knopp (171-94) scored 14 points. SG BBZ Opladen maintains eighth position in North with 6-8 record. Loser Osnabruck SC dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. SG BBZ Opladen will meet Braunschweig (#12) on the road in the next round. Osnabruck SC will play against Barmer TV (#11) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the DBBL just one year after relegation.
