Regular Season Round 14: Hatay - Botas 71-70

A very interesting game took place in Hatay. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Botas (6-8) to ninth ranked Hatay (7-7) 71-70 on Sunday evening. Hatay forced 19 Botas turnovers. Strangely Botas outrebounded Hatay 35-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Australian point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) saved the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 assists. Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and her fellow American import guard Odyssey Sims (175-92, college: Baylor) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Botas. Five Hatay and four Botas players scored in double figures. Hatay moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Istanbul Univ. Botas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Hatay's next round opponent will be higher ranked Yakin Dogu BGD (#3) in Istanbul and it may be quite challenging game. Botas will play at home against Osmaniye (#12) and hope to win that game.
