Regular Season Round 14: Osnabruecker TB - Braunschweig 76-53

Date: January 22, 2017
There was no surprise when 12th ranked Braunschweig (2-12) was crushed on the road by ninth ranked Osnabruecker (5-9) 76-53 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Osnabruecker. Braunschweig was better in second period 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Braunschweig to just 4 points in fourth quarter. The best player for the winners was American guard Elizabeth Belanger (178-94, college: New Hampshire) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Janina Wellers (180-88) chipped in 18 points. American forward Alayshia Hunter (185-93, college: La-Monroe) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Ilona Brox (175-91) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Braunschweig's coach Juliane Hoehne gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Osnabruecker maintains ninth position in North with 5-9 record. Loser Braunschweig dropped to the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Osnabruecker will face higher ranked TG Neuss (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Braunschweig will play against SG BBZ Opladen (#8) and hope to win that game.
