There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Fraport Skyliners II (6-10) defeated 7th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (7-10) in Frankfurt 92-81 on Saturday. Fraport Skyliners II looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Dragons Rhoendorf was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Travis Thompson (185-91, college: Alaska-Anch.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Isaac Bonga (203-99) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Fraport Skyliners II's coach Eric Detlev used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Aaron Nelson (203-91, college: S.Indiana) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Will Trawick (196-94, college: Emory) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Dragons Rhoendorf. Fraport Skyliners II maintains tenth place in South with 6-10 record. Loser Dragons Rhoendorf keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Fraport Skyliners II will face higher ranked Bayer Giants (#4) in Leverkusen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
