Regular Season Round 11: Interkhim - HAI 85-53

Very expected game in Odessa where 7th ranked HAI (3-11) was crushed by third ranked Interkhim (10-3) 85-53 on Saturday. The game without a history. Interkhim led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding HAI to just 7 points in third quarter. Interkhim forced 23 HAI turnovers and outrebounded them 41-23 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Interkhim looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by HAI's players. It was a great evening for swingman Yulia Musienko (177-97) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Olha Sivakova (160-92) helped adding 22 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Four Interkhim players scored in double figures. Interkhim's coach Iryna Shchipakina felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. International center Oleksandra Chek (191-93) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Nataliya Pokrovenko (170-93) scored 15 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Defending champion maintains third place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader Avangard. HAI lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Interkhim will face bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zivka (#9) in Kherson in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. HAI will play at home against DVUFK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
