Regular Season Round 20: Socar Petkim - Turk Telekom 77-71
Date: January 28, 2017
Very predictable result when third ranked Socar Petkim (15-5) defeated at home 9th ranked Turk Telekom (10-10) 77-71 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Socar Petkim looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard T.J. Campbell (175-88, college: Portland) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 assists and Bosnian power forward Kenan Bajramovic (206-81) who added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. Socar Petkim's coach Burak Goren used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: George Mason, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) scored 22 points. Socar Petkim have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-5 record having just two points less than leader Sakarya BSB. Loser Turk Telekom keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. Socar Petkim will face Duzce Belediye (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Turk Telekom will play against Samsun (#6) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the BSL just one year after relegation.
