Regular Season Round 16: Spartak Pleven - Akademik PL 88-90

The most exciting game of round 16 in the NBL took place in Pleven. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Spartak Pleven (6-8) to third ranked Academik Plovdiv (10-4) 90-88 on Saturday evening. Academik Plovdiv forced 19 Spartak Pleven turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St.) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Martin Marinov (191-85, agency: 011 Sports) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Spartak Pleven at the other side keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Academik Plovdiv are looking forward to face Beroe (#4) in Stara Zagora in the next round. Spartak Pleven will play on the road against Balkan in Botevgrad and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
