The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Karlsruhe PS (13-4) on the court of ninth ranked Wuerzburg on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Wuerzburg 89-86. Strangely Karlsruhe PS outrebounded Wuerzburg 44-31 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Swingman Lukas Wank (198-97) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Vincent Sanford (190-90, college: Dayton) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Wuerzburg's coach Peter Guenschel used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Jordan Talbert (198-91, college: Missouri So.) answered with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Bill Borekambi (198-92, college: Sequoias CC) added 11 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Karlsruhe PS. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Wuerzburg (7-10) moved-up to seventh place in South, which they share with Dragons and Licher Baeren. Newly promoted Karlsruhe PS still keeps top position with four games lost. Wuerzburg is looking forward to face Dragons Rhoendorf (#8) on the road in the next round. Karlsruhe PS will play against Licher Basket (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
