Regular Season Round 11: Avangard - Blyskavky 91-63

Superleague top team - Avangard (12-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Blyskavky (7-7) in Kyiv 91-63. The game without a history. Avangard led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Blyskavky's 30. They outrebounded Blyskavky 41-18 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Avangard looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international center Olga Yatskovets (183-97) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Olena Ogorodnikova (187-81) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Avangard players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Tetyana Yurkevicius (187-95) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Viktoriia Khomiak (170-95) added 10 points and 9 assists respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Avangard. Newly promoted Avangard maintains first place with 12-1 record, which they share with Tim-Scuf. Loser Blyskavky keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Avangard will meet bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zivka (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blyskavky will play against Suzirja and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
