Regular Season Round 15: Istanbul Univ. - Fenerbahce 74-73

Top ranked Fenerbahce (13-2) recorded its second loss on the court of seventh ranked Istanbul Uni on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Istanbul Uni 74-73. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. Strangely Fenerbahce outrebounded Istanbul Uni 41-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Istanbul Uni players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Belarusian center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Fenerbahce's coach Georgios Dikeoulakos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Istanbul Uni (8-7) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Besiktas. Defending champion Fenerbahce still keeps top position with two games lost. Istanbul Uni is looking forward to face Hatay (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fenerbahce will play against Samsun (#14) and is hoping to win this game.
