Regular Season Round 15: Goettingen - B.Loewen 78-55

Very expected game when 6th ranked B.Loewen (7-8) was smashed on the road by second ranked Goettingen (13-2) 78-55 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Goettingen. B.Loewen was better in fourth quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding B.Loewen to just 4 points in first quarter. Goettingen made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded B.Loewen 39-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Trinidad and Tobago center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) contributed with 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American Ja'Nee Morton (175) answered with 18 points and the other American import center Catrina Green (188-92, college: Gardner-Webb) added 9 points in the effort for B.Loewen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Goettingen keeps a position of North leader, which they share with Wolfenbuettel. Loser B.Loewen keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Goettingen will face Osnabruck SC (#4) on the road in the next round. B.Loewen will play against Krofdorf/Gleib. in Giessen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
