Regular Season Round 15: Halle - Hannover 54-51

Important game to mention about took place in Halle. Ninth ranked SV Halle Lions (6-8) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Hannover (7-8) 54-51 on Sunday evening. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. SV Halle Lions made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) who led the winners and scored 23 points. Guard Laura Schinkel (173-99) accounted for 9 points for the winning side. SV Halle Lions' coach Rene Spandauw allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American Melissa Jeltema (175-88, college: Oakland) came up with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Senegalese-American center Marie-Sadio Rosche (190-87, college: Dayton) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Hannover in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for SV Halle Lions. They moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Hannover keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. SV Halle Lions will play against higher ranked Herner TC (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hannover will play against the league's leader Gruner Stern Keltern where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
