The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (15-3) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (10-10) 87-84. Redwell Gunners Oberwart was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for Croatian Marko Car (188-85) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 9 rebounds. Croatian center Marino Sarlija (207-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Chris McNealy (194-92, college: Cal-Irvine) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Redwell Gunners Oberwart. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Furstenfeld Panthers have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 10-10 record. Defending champion Redwell Gunners Oberwart still keeps top position with three games lost. Furstenfeld Panthers are looking forward to face league's second-placed Gmunden Swans in Gmunden in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will play at home against Dukes and is hoping to win this game.
